I love light, yet I fear time. The moments of divine illumination that grace my life inevitably fade with its relentless passage. In my quest to capture these fleeting glimpses of divinity, I strive to commit them to eternity, attempting to seize the sacred through my lens, in whatever form it may take.

Recently, I was blessed with such a moment as the setting sun met the rising moon. Their golden glow and silvery shimmer intertwined like young lovers, casting a spell over the Himalayas. The mountains seemed to radiate joy—or perhaps it was bliss, the kind that the soul experiences when touched by the divine.

In this ethereal dance of light, I felt a profound connection to the universe, a reminder that while time may be fleeting, the beauty of these moments endures in our hearts. The Himalayas stood witness to this celestial embrace, their majesty amplified by the interplay of sun and moonlight, creating a tapestry of colors that spoke to the very essence of existence.

In some fascinating examples of myrmecophily, certain species of weevils establish a symbiotic relationship with ants, particularly during their reproductive phases. These weevils, seeking refuge and protection, often infiltrate ant nests, where they benefit from the safety provided by their hosts. To integrate smoothly, the weevils secrete chemicals that mimic the ants' own pheromones, avoiding detection. While the ants might not actively assist with mating, the presence of ants can inadvertently support the weevil's life cycle by offering a stable environment for egg-laying and larval development. This intricate relationship underscores the complex interplay between species in nature, where protection and environmental stability are exchanged for minimal direct benefits.

I was walkig through a bushy area to photograph some insects and noticed these ants following the mating pair of weavil. This image was shoot from Kannur, Kerala. This image was captured on Nikon Z6III with 50mm lens attached with Raynox DCR250

Every year in May, Kharagpur comes alive with the vibrant celebration of Sri Solapuri Mata Puja. This 9-day festival honors the goddess made from turmeric, worshipped for protection from childhood diseases and for blessings of rainfall, good harvests, and health.

The goddess, seen as a daughter returning to her father’s home, is welcomed with love and devotion. Her presence marks days of prayer, dance, folk rituals, and unity. On the 10th day, a grand visarjan procession takes place, where devotees transform into forms of Kali Maa, tigers, and other divine beings—offering prayers in a powerful expression of faith.

This photo is of a camel trader. He looks tired. He and his family came from far away to sell their camels at the Pushkar fair. The man is taking a short rest. He is smoking a cigarette, and you can see the smoke going up. The sun is shining brightly behind him, making his face and turban stand out. It's a simple moment of peace before a long day of work.

In this visual, time feels like it has come to a standstill yet it whispers of both memory and decay. A man in a fading red band uniform, brass gleaming faintly, sits barefoot against a weathered wall, playing into emptiness. His companion slouches on the broken stairs, drum silent, body heavy with fatigue. Behind them, the once-vibrant murals of elephants and kings, remnants of grandeur, peel away under neglect.

In front, donkeys burdened with coarse loads trudge by, indifferent and unbothered symbols of endurance in contrast to the fallen pomp of a bygone era. The clash is stark: the ceremonial spectacle of a wedding band, once the soundtrack of celebration, reduced to worn-out uniforms and weary faces; and the animals, representing the labor that still sustains everyday life, moving through the same streets unchanged.

This scene is dramatic in its quiet truth a portrait of today’s India caught between nostalgia and necessity, glamour and grit, festivity and fatigue. The music of the old world struggles to be heard over the weight of survival, and the band plays on, not for a parade, but for the memory of relevance.

In the rural areas of Bengal, the Bohurupis are a struggling clan of artists who use elaborate disguises to portray a variety of characters, often mythological figures or historical personalities. To perform their acts flawlessly, they rely on extensive use of makeup and props. The process of applying makeup is a time consuming activity that requires expertise and fineness and often takes hours to get ready for a single character. The acts are mostly performed by the males of the family. The skills are transferred from one generation to the next. In this image, a male Bohurupi artist gets dressed to enact Ma Durga.

Beneath the glow of a full moon, I wandered through the quiet park.
There, swaying gently from a tree, hung a lifeless fruit bat—
its wings ensnared in cruel manjha,
the razor thread of kite-flyers’ joy, now a silent weapon. :(

I had arrived early, and so I waited—
for the moon to ascend,
for the clouds to part like curtains on a mournful stage.
And at last, they did.
The night opened, and I captured a clear, solemn frame.

So often, the sky’s play becomes a requiem.
Macabre manjha—a dance of threads that sometimes ends in quiet death.
